Applekeynotes.com was a website where “Apple Mac” addicts could download keynotes from past Apple Expos... That is, until Apple Computers, Inc pulled the plug and informed the founders that they had to take down the site.
In its short lived few weeks, the website managed to get over 15,000 unique visitors and as it stands at the moment, achieved 947 diggs. The problem is, the website featured copyrighted images of the Apple CEO - Steve Jobs and contained images of the Apple logo, leading some to believe the website was official. ...and I guess it didn't help that the keynotes were copyrighted to Apple too!
The website founders are allowed to continue with the website if they remove the copyrighted images, stick a big bold disclaimer at the top of the page and remove the keynotes. ...somehow I don't think www.applekeynotes.com is going to return! Which is a shame as a few days before the website got taken down; one of the founders had asked me if I'd redesign the site. With well over 15,000 visitors, that would have been great exposure for my website design skills!
Oh well... next time I'll just have to make sure that the client deposits a large sum of money into my PayPal account before the lawyers take down the old site!
